Fierce Old Women Still Fabulous, Reports Fashion Writer
Praising the fashion sense of old money doyennes is more than a gay cultural duty; it’s a recession career prospect, apparently. Endearingly otteresque British style writer Ari Seth Cohen does it daily for his site Advanced Living, dispatching sparkling little postcards like this one that have the power to make us wish both 1.) that we’d though of this shit first, and; 2.) that we spent more time trawling Georgetown assisted living facilities:
I’m in London I am staying at the gorgeous Corinthia Hotel. If you have a chance to come by here on your next trip, the service is fantastic and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. I have been meeting with some of my favorite ladies here all week! Speaking of meetings with Advanced Style Ladies, yesterday I had my book launch party with Mary Portas at House of Fraser. It was an incredible event full of interesting people of all ages. One of my favorite models, Bridget Sojourner stopped by the party and we were able to get a few great new shots! I also met one of my idols,Zandra Rhodes last night!!! I hope to post some more party shots soon, but for now check out Zandra and I below.
And queens, these pictures. It’s like Margaret Thatcher had a welter of lovechildren with a London hipster, and they were raised in turn by two daddies:
Ari Seth Cohen is only “probably gay” in the way that he is “probably Jewish,” so props to the tribe/club for representing in the notoriously anti-semitic and homophobic field of “flattering outrageously wealthy old women.”
